LAKE GARDA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
BECKY & JAMES
Becky & James asked if would consider going to Italy for their Lake Garda wedding at Scaliger Castle in Malcesine. Hmmm let me think, erm ok!! Its not often I get asked to shoot a wedding overseas. So when the opportunity came up I was absolutely buzzing at the chance.
We flew out a few days before the ceremony to soak up the late summer sunshine. This gave us the chance to have a good look round and get our bearings. My wife and I have never been to this part of Italy before and it wont be the last time we visit. Within a couple of days Karley uttered the words holiday home! After a few days of sunbathing and swimming in the lake the big day arrived.
Scaliger Castle Wedding in Malcesine
I started my day with Steve, the brides Dad, who I met at New Look Tiziani Malcesine, he needed a trim, according to Becky. The ladies arrived soon after, the bride, bridesmaids, both Mum’s and both Grandmothers. We headed to the Castle to find James and the guests enjoying a pre wedding drink in a little cafe at the bottom of the Castle steps.
Becky & James were married atop the castle ramparts with the most stunning views over Lake Garda. The day continued with everyone clapping and throwing confetti as they left the castle. A huge cheer from the assembled public went up amid the cries of locals calling “Bacio, bacio – kiss”. The newlyweds jumped into a Tuk Tuk to make their way down to a little harbour, the rest of us followed on foot to La Pace. Here we had a quick nibble and drinks amongst the olive trees overlooking the lake.
La Voglia
The reception was reached by boat, so after another stroll along the cobbles with a few stops for photos we all boarded the boat in Malcesine harbour. Destination, around the bay to La Voglia. With some emotional speeches and impromtu toasts the reception started. We then realised we had been given places at the table with their guests. They told us to take a seat, put the cameras away and enjoy a bit of Italian hospitalty.
We had amazing time with the family and friends of the couple, everyone was so warm and welcoming, like we were old friends. The night drew in and the dancing started, it was a good night. I finally relented and put my gear away about 10pm after being told off by Becky “we want you to enjoy yourself too!”

And last but by no means least thank you to my beautiful wife Karley for carrying all my gear and actually taking some pretty good photos, ti amo bellissima.
Thank you both again for inviting Karley/wife/bag lady/lighting assistant and I to be part of your Italian adventure, we had a great time too, ciao.
