WESTCOTT BARTON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Cassie & Adam
I’ve known both Cassie & Adam for a long time. Adam used to work at the pub I ran in Woolacombe along with his sister Rachel and Mum Ruth. Cassie, I know from Ilfracombe and through other friends. I remember when I first found out that they were a couple and seeing Cassie at the school gates. I walked over and jokingly asked what madness had made her hook up with Adam! She just smiled and said he made her laugh.
That was a few years ago and things have certainly moved on. Which brought me to this Westcott Barton wedding in late summer. It was fantastic to see lots of faces I knew at the wedding. Its not often I get to shoot the weddings of Ilfracombe locals, so when I do its great to catch up.
My day started at Shine in Ilfracombe. Cassie has worked there for many years as a stylist, today it was her turn to take a seat. From here I headed up to Westcott to meet Adam and the rest of the wedding party and guests. Soon after my arrival, Rachel, Adam’s sister appeared. She was heavily pregnant with her fourth child. She actually gave birth the following morning, she said it was all the jumping up and down and dancing that had started her off!
Westcott is one of those hidden gems in the North Devon countryside. Similar in many ways to The Ash Barton Estate , but with a charm all its own. The cottages around the cobbled courtyard are what greet you and to the left is the wedding barn. Here you can hold your ceremony or reception or party or all of them. It’s a blank canvas for your DIY wedding.
“Wow!!! This guy is insanely talented. He made us feel totally at ease, even when I had a bridezilla moment! His creativity is truly beautiful and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough….thankyou Mike!

Outdoor Speeches
After the ceremony the wedding party all headed out of the barn to the Orangerie and gardens. H&A Catering were on hand with Pimms and canapes, prior to the main offerings later in the day. The speeches were held outside in the sunshine before heading to the breakfast. Those speaking had the assembled group in either tears or fits of giggles. Along with Adam and his best man, both Cassie’s brother and Sister made speeches. The later being really emotional moments for the family. Food, the barn was set up by a team of helpers who had been expertly trained by Katie of Best Day Ever. Well, she’d told them what went where. Katie had been at Westcott the day before setting up the lighting and hanging strings of lights from the centre of the barn’s ceiling. Not an easy task apparently.
The Wedding Spinner
The evening tunes were provided by Tom Capron, one of The Wedding Spinner Collective. The couple had the most amazing day, Cassie said after she didn’t think she’d ever smiled as much as she did that day, too right.
