GREAT TYTHE BARN WEDDING
Annie & Dan
Having been a professional wedding photographer for eighteen years now, it not very often I get to work at a venue I haven’t visited previously. So I was absolutely delighted to be able to make my first visit to Tetbury to photograph Annie & Dan’s Great Tythe Barn Wedding in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Andrea & Dan live in London but decided to head West for their wedding. I first met them on zoom back in 2019 after a fellow tog sent them my way. He couldn’t do their postponement date due to another wedding. We clicked immediately and I knew their day was going to be an incredible celebration.
On arrival in the morning of the wedding my first encounter with any guests was with Uncle Brian, who with a few others was sitting sipping rum, at 9am, this is going to be a fun day I thought! The weather was good, meaning they were able to go ahead with their planned outdoor ceremony, a gospel quartet singing during both the entrance and exit of the couple.
Most of the day was spent outside enjoying the summer sunshine. The quartet changed tack for the cocktail hour and played lots of soul & R&B at which point the garden turned into a makeshift dance floor.
Now, those of you who know my work or have seen me at a wedding know I love to get in the mix and shoot some epic dance floor action. This was party for the ages! No cheesy disco here! DJ Ruf n Tuf was spinning the tunes and it was a full dance floor from the word go. It was non stop, a brilliant night.
As I knew it would be from the moment I met Annie & Dan, this was the most fantastic day. When its like this my job doesn’t really feel like work, its hard, but so rewarding.
MEETING THE COUPLE
I met up with Annie & Dan in London in November, a few months after their wedding. I was in town for the NineDots Gathering, a conference with lots of wedding togs, socialising and networking, a tiny bit of drinking and a little bit of education. We chatted about their day and I asked what their favourite photos were. They chose those were with their family, not the party, not the couples portraits, but the ones with those who they love most. My job in a nutshell, I capture you two with those who mean the most to you, your loved ones, and give you those memories to look back on forever. Oh, and some really fun party pics too.
Heartfelt thanks and massive hugs go to Annie & Dan for having me as their wedding photographer. You and your families made me feel so welcome from the moment I arrived – it was a genuine honour to be a part of their day.
